When I energized my great coil, it was with trepidation that I waved bare 8 foot fluorescent tubes in my naked hand and they were lite up and there was no apparent effect on me. pg

Hi PG, that was probably how Nikola Tesla was lighting this gas filled bulb too, with one of his high frequency oscillators nearby. But in other demonstrations he did pass AC power through his body:

So I will correct my caption, thanks PG! The picture is beautiful, keeping in mind he understood the mysteries and usefulness of electricity before many others, and was at the time in conflict with the dastardly Thomas Edison – who was busy publicly electrocuting elephants and horses as fast as he could, to try to scare the people regarding the use AC power.
